What IPTV means
IPTV stands for Internet Protocol television. Channels, movies and series arrive over your internet connection, not through an antenna, a satellite dish or a cable line.
The box and the service are two different things
- The box is hardware: a small device with a remote that plugs into the TV's HDMI port. It is also called an IPTV player, a set-top box, a streaming box or a live TV streamer.
- The service comes from a provider. It supplies the channels, the video library and the TV guide.
A box without a service shows no channels, and a service needs a box or an app to be watched on a television.
Where OTV fits
OTV Prime 11000 is an Android TV box. Its home screen has Live TV, VOD, TV Series and Favorites, with a TV guide and catch-up, laid out for watching a service you already have. Your service provider gives you the details to enter in the box's Settings.
OTV does not provide any TV channels, subscriptions or any other audio-video content, and has no affiliation with any third-party providers. What you can watch depends entirely on your provider, so please use only services that are licensed to offer their content where you live.
What to look for in an IPTV box
- A steady connection: an Ethernet port for a wired line, and dual-band Wi-Fi.
- Modern video decoding: 4K at 60 frames a second, HDR, and formats such as AV1 and HEVC.
- Enough memory: so channel lists and guides open quickly. OTV Prime 11000 has 4 GB.
- A remote made for TV: the OTV remote has direct keys for Live, VOD and Favorites, plus four colour keys for lock, catch-up, favourite and hide.
